About the organization: Centrum Narovinu is a non-governmental organization that focuses on development cooperation with the aim to improve education, health care and general community development in Kenya. The organization is currently offering partial scholarship to 2500 needy students from different parts of the country.

Vision: To improve living conditions of Kenyan people in marginal areas mainly in the area of health, education,self reliance and the general welfare.

Mission: To collectively engage in activities that demonstrate, exhibit and promote ideals of active non-violence, tolerance, non-discrimination and the human being as the central value.

Achievements: The organization has established a community center, Island of Hope in Rusinga Island which is its main project. The center comprises of an orphanage, primary and secondary schools and a health facility. It also has beneficiaries from 46 counties out of the 47 in Kenya.

Imediate Needs: Centrum Narovinu¿s most immediate need is meeting its recurrent costs and also improving the already existing projects like the orphanage, building of secondary and health center.

Brief description: We provide Palliative Care to patients with chronic illnesses that are not likely to be cured such as cancer, HIV/AIDs and other non communicable diseases. This is an approach that improves quality of life of patients and their families with life threatening illnesses through prevention and relief of suffering and treatment of pain, Day care group therapy, Psycho-social support (counseling), spiritual care, Holistic home based care, bereavement support and training health and non health professional in palliative care skills.

Vision : Nakuru Hospice envisions alleviating the physical and psycho-social suffering associated with progressive incurable illnesses

Mission : Our mission is to avail and access high quality palliative care service to patients and their families in Nakuru County and and neighboring counties

Achievements: We have provided quality care to more than 3212 patients and their families. We have seen patients and families who had lost hope that cancer is like a death sentence gain that hope and live normal lives and some go back to work. We have seen those with breast cancer get children and they become living testimonies. We have been able to visit patient who are bed ridden in their homes and they no longer die in pain but die with dignity. We have provided services free and given drugs to the poor and those who have no finances as they spent all what they had towards treatment of cancer.

The most Imediate Needs : 

  • Funds to buy drugs and medical supplies
  •  Funds to run the operations of the hospice ( motor vehicle fuel, insurance, repairs, office supplies, and salaries)
  • Purchase of medical equipment

Long term Needs: In order to be sustainable, we need to construct a full facility that would have inpatient facility. We have noted that many people suffer because they were diagnosed late.This facility would have other functions such as prevention by creating awareness on cancer, screening and diagnostic services. If we get support we would like to support treatment for the poor those who cannot afford as cancer treatment is very expensive
